Manufacturers CCKEYS migrate to a Microsoft Teams Phone System to meet remote working needs.


The issue:
Birmingham-based CCKEYS manufacturers innovative and robust key management systems for the automotive trade and other industries. CCKEYS wanted to move to a cloud telephony service to support members of staff working from home amid the pandemic and to benefit from business continuity options and easy management. They are also expanding, so need to add users as and when required.


The solution:
We recommended they replace their existing solution with Microsoft 365 licences including the Phone System app which would give them a cloud-hosted phone system that could be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection. This means that staff can use the solution while working from home and it also provides built-in business continuity whereby if there is an issue with the internet connection in the office, they can simply work elsewhere.
 

While CCKEYS opted for four desk-based handsets in the office, the Teams Phone System app can be used on PCs, laptops, tablet and mobiles too to offer further flexibility and business continuity options.
 

CCKEY’s lines and numbers were ported to Gamma’s Direct Routing for Teams service, which is a flexible, accessible and cheaper alternative to Microsoft’s Calling Plans. This gave them free calls to UK landlines and mobiles by way of inclusive call bundles.

CCKEYS benefited from Microsoft Teams’ integration with Microsoft 365. Email and calendars determine the presence status of every member of staff, so everyone can see who is available, in a meeting or, with the addition of the Phone System upgrade, on a call. They can use the chat functionality to ask quick questions or can easily set up one-to-one or group video meetings to maintain contact with colleagues while they work from home. Documents and screens can be shared via chat and video calls too. When CCKEYS want to expand further, they will simply need to add their licence estate.
